What's new
- Cleaner parts. The score is now kept at a higher image quality from the moment it is read to the moment it lands in the PDF, so staff lines come out crisper instead of slightly smudged. It shows most if you print
- Fixed: on the last page of a combined part the systems were printed touching each other, with no space between them, however you set Max systems/page. The closing page now carries the same spacing as the rest of the part
- Opening a saved session no longer stops dead when the PDF is not byte for byte the one it was made from. Re-downloading or re-saving a score produces a different file while the music is the same, so you can now open it anyway, with a warning that the bands may not line up. If the score is shorter than the one the session came from, we say which pages cannot be shown instead of leaving you on a page that is not there
- Every part now has its own Band spacing and Scale, on the part's own card. A flute part and a merged desk part rarely want the same size, and until now one setting had to serve both. The sliders at the top still set the default for every part, and a part follows it until you move its own; a reset appears when it does, to hand it back
- Fixed: a combined part could quietly end up holding a different instrument. Reassigning a band could leave an instrument with nothing on it, and removing that instrument shifted the ones after it while combined parts and page breaks kept pointing at the old positions. The part kept its name and the exported PDF looked right, so there was nothing to notice. If you have downloaded a combined part after moving bands between instruments, it is worth opening it again
- Combine instruments has moved. It makes a new part rather than changing the one you are looking at, so it now sits at the bottom of the menu where you switch between parts
- In a combined part, the staves of one system are now printed together with no gap between them, exactly as they sit in the score. They belong to the same moment of music, so they should read as one system rather than as separate lines
- Each combined part has its own Max systems/page setting in its header. Fewer systems on a page leaves more room between them, which is the spacing musicians actually need on a stand. Band spacing keeps working as before on ordinary single-instrument parts
- The Combine instruments button no longer overlaps the rest of the header on a narrow window
- Fixed: in a combined part, staves could come out in the wrong order when one of the chosen instruments was missing from a system, which happens whenever a page carries more than one movement or an instrument rests for a system. The part now follows the score, system by system, top to bottom. If you have already downloaded a combined part from a score like that, download it again
- Preview now asks you to confirm every system before it opens, and tells you which pages are still waiting. Confirming a block is what tells us where one system ends and the next begins, and combined parts are assembled from exactly that
- You can now save a session to disk and open it again later, on the same computer or another one. Use the download icon on any saved session, then Import session from disk in the Saved sessions menu to bring it back. The file holds your bands, instrument names, bar numbers and settings, not the score itself, so it stays small enough to email or keep in a folder alongside the PDF. When you open it we ask for the original PDF and check that it is the same file, so your bands land exactly where you drew them
- You can now sign in with your email address as well as with Google — we send you a link, with no password to remember. If you already have an account, both ways lead to the same account and the same Premium
- Downloaded parts are now named after the piece as well as the instrument, so files from different scores no longer pile up as VIOLIN.pdf, VIOLIN (1).pdf. The name comes from the title and composer fields, or from your uploaded file if you leave them empty. The ZIP takes the name of the piece too
- The onboarding tour now includes a step on text labels, showing how to add a note to a system and have it printed on every part
- Text annotations are now much sharper on screen, and start at a larger, more readable default size
- Editing an annotation no longer needs a click: hover over the text and the editing tools appear straight away. Escape now simply leaves editing instead of deleting the annotation
- The annotation editing box keeps a steady size next to its toolbar, with the text centred inside it
- The page margin lines can now be dragged from anywhere along the line, not just from the handle at the top
- The "Click to confirm block" button is bigger and pulses more visibly, so the step is harder to miss
- New first-time onboarding tour on initial upload, walking through how to draw a system and copy it to other pages with step-by-step visuals — replay it anytime from the ? button in the toolbar. Also fixed the crop-margin drag handle appearing at inconsistent sizes across scores of different resolutions
- While typing an instrument name, every other staff on the page is now dimmed to gray so the one being renamed stands out clearly
- New "Copy system" button on confirmed systems: duplicate an entire system — bands and instrument names included — and place it anywhere on the page with two clicks, perfect for scores where the same system repeats several times
- Fixed: the band spacing setting in Preview now matches the downloaded PDF exactly — previously the preview could fit more systems per page than the actual export
- Bar numbers are now overlaid on the top-left corner of each system instead of pushing the staves down — spacing between systems is unaffected
- Fixed: bar numbers now appear correctly in the Preview tab even if the "Show bar numbers" toggle was off when the score was first loaded
- Combined parts: bar numbers and text annotations now appear only on the top staff of each system, not repeated for every instrument
- Combined parts: text annotations are now included in the Preview and in downloaded PDFs
- Scale slider range changed to 80–140% with 1% steps
- Download tab: after downloading a part the button turns green (✓ Downloaded) — click it again to re-download; navigating away and back resets all buttons to blue
- Combine instruments: select two or more instruments in the Preview tab to generate a single merged PDF — staves are interleaved in system order, ideal for desk parts or custom groupings. Combined parts appear in the Download tab and are included in the ZIP
- Preview navigation: the Preview tab now shows one instrument at a time — use the dropdown in the card header to switch between instruments instantly
- Page breaks in combined parts: hover between systems and click to add or remove a break; a system is never split across pages
- Horizontal crop margins in split stage: drag the two vertical lines to trim the left/right edges of each page before downloading (default 20px per side)
- Fixed: when confirming a second system, the rename prompt no longer incorrectly focuses the instrument label of the first system
- Fixed: confirming a system with default instrument names and leaving them unchanged now treats those names as final — the rename prompt no longer reappears for the same instruments on subsequent systems
- Text annotations: click inside the top staff of a confirmed system to add a text label — automatically copied to all staves in the same system, visible in preview and included in all downloads (individual PDF and ZIP)
- Bar numbers: press Tab to jump to the next bar number field without using the mouse
- Fixed: bar number value no longer disappears when moving the mouse while the field is focused
- Fixed: text annotations can no longer be dragged outside the band boundaries after resizing
- After confirming a new system with generic instrument names, the first instrument is automatically focused for renaming — Tab or Enter advances to the next
- Smartphone support: the site now renders correctly on mobile phones with the full desktop layout scaled to fit the screen
- Horizontal scrollbar appears when the score canvas is zoomed beyond the screen width, with drag and tap-to-jump support
- Each extracted part now includes a header on every page with page number, instrument name, and scorepartify.com — identical in both preview and downloaded PDF
- New "Show title & composer" option in Preview & Spacing: add work title and composer name, shown prominently on the first page of each part
- Download progress: animated circular progress indicator shows what's happening step by step while your PDFs are being generated
- New drag handle on each confirmed system: drag vertically to reposition all staves of a system at once, with real-time preview
